too much = crazy...

it's been a bit of a hectic week around here...
there is no doubt!

on monday...
there was a chicken pox scare, which led to the first Dr appointment of the week.

a family trip to chuckie cheese after school, which was pretty fun.
and then a 30th birthday party in the evening for brian's brother chris.

then on tuesday...
i'm pretty sure that god knew my life needed a good cleaning cause that's exactly what i did all day, and not by my choice!
my car had some issues after i dropped levi off at school so i had to clean it out so that bri could take it in.

in the meantime that day i noted alivia's nose was starting to run, which luckily got us out of ballet for the day (cause i really had no car to get us there anyway!).
i came home from picking up levi to find a trail of ants heading to and from our back door...
seriously... like HUNDREDS of ants!

so that meant i had to sweep and mop up everything... yes, even under the extremely heavy rug! until i found the cheesy doreto chips that were under the rocker attracting levi's new friends into our home....
needless to say...
there is a NO MORE FOOD except in the kitchen rule in our house now!

by the time evening got around alivia's runny nose was accompanied by a nasty cough! so nasty infact, that it made her puke all over the bedroom floor clear into the bathroom as she was running towards the toilet.
so my bedroom then got a nice cleaning with newly vacuumed floors, and the bathroom got the wipe down with newly mopped floors.

the night ended when alivia accidently knocked the glass measuring cup down on the kitchen floor. the millions of tiny glass pieces then needed to be vacuumed up (which made my mind say it needed a good mopping too).

yep, tuesday was a day of deep cleaning!

then wednesday came...
i noticed first thing in the morning that alivia was a "good big sister" and "shared" her nasty cold with nataley.
they both were rather feverish and just looked rough.
i decided that i would be taking the girls in to the Dr right after i got levi from school

when the girls and i got to the school that afternoon we were greeted by levi and what looked like several wads of blue gum throughout his hair. i was then informed by his teacher that levi decided not to take a nap during nap time but rather was secretly picking the sticky tak off of the posters placing bits of it in his own hair!
YIKES... sigh!
(i should have taken a picture i know... but i was too angry to even think about that!)

we made our way to the Dr office. the girls were checked and were diagnosed with a bad spell of the common viral cold. after the doc was done checking the girls she playfully took a gander into levi's ears.
and much to our surprise...
HE had the ear infection!

the night ended with
dinner with my mom....
filling a prescription...

and then me pulling out chunks of tak or cutting bits of levis hair...
arg, i should have just buzzed the whole darn thing!

finally, thursday was here...
i rather enjoy thursdays. it's the only time of the week when i get out without my children.
granted it is only to my mary kay meetings at the pink studio but...
they are great girly fun! and encourage me for the following week. and like i said before... i am without my children!

i ran down to the mall after i dropped levi off at school to pick up the black skirt that i needed for the pink studio.
and two very cute pairs of sunglasses...
and then i eyed in envy on several pairs of corduroy paints ( i just might go back sometime next week... they were calling my name!)

levi also had his first soccer practice!
very adorable stuff!

oh yea...
and, i had my first PVO meeting at school too!
i met some wonderfully happy women, and had a great first meeting!
i can't wait for next weeks when we talk about the fall fest!

thursday was a fun full kinda day. :)

and then, finally! friday was here...
except, friday was so crazy i could hardly think for one minute!
the girls both started "barking" in the middle of the night, which kinda freaked me out,
and i took them both to the dr. first thing in the morning.
and although alivia still looks really bad, she apparently is on the mend.
but nataley, oh my poor poor nataley has developed a respiratory infection!
her little nose is like a milky snot faucet. :(

i picked up her meds,
and then had to go to the hair appointment i had forgotten that i made.
i printed up some flyers and then spent the rest of the evening taking care of my two sick girls.

saturday...
i would have been found walking the neighborhood most of the afternoon.
i was too tired out from my week to do my usual produce/grocery runs.

so tired that i didn't even clean up the kitchen from dinner (extremely not in my nature, extra showing just how exhausted i truly was).

and on sunday....
ah sunday, what a wonderful day. my day of complete rest.... almost!

i was blessed by my terrific husband!
who cleaned up the kitchen, cleaned out the fish tank (even though the fish all died by the evening... it's the thought that counts). he took care of our still sick, feeling lousy, girls most of the day.

i only had to catch up on laundry, and made a trip down to wallgreens to pick up a picture levi needed for school and a loaf of bread so that he could have his most loved pb&j for lunch on monday.

i wish i could say that the business of the week made it fly right by, but the truth is...
it felt like the longest week of my life!

i'm kinda starting to realize that it is quite possible that i have taken on too much stuff.
cause even though (fingers crossed) i may not have sick children this week...
i still have a pretty crazy schedule coming up.

between ballet, soccer, a follow up visit for nataley, levi's first field trip (i'm so excited!), one cake decorating class with chels, and a mary kay meeting!
not to mention the fact that i still have to do a grocery store run, at least one target stop, and head over to the produce market! and i still want those corduroys!

sigh... i better get going here!

busy bee...

honestly, i wish could just run away sometimes...
just for a little while... to have peace and quiet, to not have one thing needing to be done or accomplished for just a few hours would be nice.

i had so much i needed to get done today but my list was completely twisted around this afternoon. i spent the morning making valentines day cards with the kids. i was sure to start this project bright and early because i wanted to make sure they got out in todays mail so that grandparents would be getting them tomorrow. perfectly planned procrastination done only as shannon could do it!

brian and both girls have had runny noses for the past few days and this afternoon i swore i felt a mild grade fever on alivia. seeing as how today is friday i thought it best to go ahead and take both girls in just to be sure everything was looking A OK....
and naturally it wasn't. alivia has yet another ear infection! so, i now have the joy of having antibiotics spit in my face for the next 4 days...YEA!
fitting in their DR. appointment made it so that i couldn't possibly get the cards in todays mail. but thankfully brian came to my rescue and was nice enough to be our "mail man". he said that he would drop cards off to the places they needed to get to in tomorrows mail (and i love him for it!).

levi spent the day with nana and papa. munky had a vet visit and so did my parents dog so they decided they would take both dogs and levi wanted to tag along. i am assuming that everything went well. i know levi had a great time cause he talked about it the whole time he was in the bath tub tonight.

i took full advantage of only having two kids in tote today. after their appointment we ran over to the new produce stand and stocked up on a few things. this seriously makes my world.... the produce stand that is. they have everything i could ever think of wanting and being able to get all that kinda stuff at the restaurant just knocked my grocery bill down to practically $0.... i'm so excited.... it doesn't take much to amuse me these days! :)
speaking of which. as i drove around thinking of what i could possibly give my husband that would have meaning i started thinking about how becoming a mother has changed me. seriously, five years ago a new high end designer bag would have practically made my month (well, my week at least) and now i honestly don't remember the last time i walked in anywhere with enough money burning my pockets to drop on something that does nothing more then hold my lip gloss (that i never even use)!
that thought was made even more clear this evening while i strolled the isles of target looking for little things to put into the kids valentines day boxes. i have been told my brian to make sure that i walk past the "monster jam" toy section anywhere i go with eyes open looking for the trucks to which my son is lacking. levi thinks, breaths and lives for his $3.04 monster trucks. whenever he gets one he stares at the back of the packaging for at least an hour going over which ones he has, and which ones he doesn't and which ones are the "hard" ones to find (he learned that from brian).
anyway, there today as i scrolled my eyes down their selection i quickly spotted "superman".... i say this in all honesty, the lady across the isle from me looked at me as though i was crazy as i jumped for joy. i was so super excited to see levi's most craved one. he talks about it daily with this super sad look on his face because it is so hard to find. and i found it!
yes, this girl who used to be excited about pretty jewerly, handbags, and the perfect shirt was elated to find a tiny little toy for only the excitement i would find in those big blue eyes when he realizes he's got it....
when did this life become so wonderful?
and let me just say...
i felt 10 billion times more happier in that toy isle today then i ever did even once at COACH!

*********************************************************

here are a few pics from school yesterday. i think (and this may sound funny) that valentines day is levi's favorite school holiday.
he was so excited when he went in yesterday morning. he shouted "look friends, i brought us candy!"..... stinking cute!

now i'm off. i still have to make up sugar cookie dough so that the kids have something to put pink and red frosting on tomorrow...
once again, perfectly planned procrastination! ;)

off to school again....

through out the whole day today i have been going back and forth in my head if my kids should go back to the "germ hole" aka pre school. they have missed the last two weeks due to sick bugs. looking back, it has been a very long two and a half months. someone is sick every week. in fact, let me just pull out the last health insurance summary i got. we got this new plan through brians work june 1 this year..... oh yes, the emrich family has reached $2072.03 of their family deductible for the year. putting aside the $600.00 we paid for the birth of nataley, that is $1472.03 that i have ( i guess i should say brian has) forked out to doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions in a short 6 months!
it is insane! the worse so far was these past two weeks.... goopy eye, extremely high fevers, ear infections, vomiting, a run of strep throat and constant runny noses. levi had it really bad two weeks ago, alivia last week and now nataley.

i spent this afternoon playing board games with levi (alivia was napping but joined us later) and let me just say... i thought i might go insane by the end of it. i had to keep explaining everything over and over, telling them although game pieces look like cherries... they are not, and they do not go in our mouths. i think the words "do you want to keep playing? then come sit back down or we will have to put it away" came out of my mouth about 10 times! although by the time i was finished i could definitely see progress with their attention, and their understanding of the point and strategy of the games (not that hi oh cherry oh and hungry hungry hippos have a real strategy) i was still rather frazzled and stressed out with the situation as a whole. in that very minute as i put the last box away in the "only when an adult says its OK closet" i decided that teaching was better left to teachers, and against what seems as my better judgement.... i will in fact be packing my van up with two kids and their lunch boxes tomorrow morning!

a day survived

maybe i should have titled this a week survived!  who would have ever thought three sweet little faces could cause so much activity?.... anyone i suppose!  it all started last sunday... a middle of the night fever that led to goopy eyes within mere seconds. by monday morning it had turned into the whining, crying, coughing, and runny noses that have kept me on my feet, in and out of Doctor offices, without a moments peace all week long!  somehow, in this mix i have managed to catch a sore throat myself... and it would so happen it would have to be none other then strep!  so... add one more antibiotic to the six (yes, i did say SIX) that are sitting high up on my kitchen counter out of little hands reach.
Yikes!  i am seriously so incredibly worn out from these past few days that i can't possibly even think of how to express it.  the whole month of november brian and i remind ourselves of how blessed we are by saying one thing we are thankful for each morning.  sitting here, it has just occured to me when he gets out of the shower and is about to walk out the door, today i will say good health!  i guess the whole thing with this blogging is the ability to see my thoughts more clearly and have a way to remember this life of mine by.  my first blog has done just that for me.  just when you think things can't possibly get any worse you realize "oh, but it can" then you can smile and say (in a weird sorta way)..... snotty nose kids aren't that bad after all. :)
