rain and boys...

i love the rain...
LOVE sleeping while it pours on my roof top.
LOVE watching the wonderment of the dark and dreary in the middle of the day from our back window.
I even LOVE the bright bolts of lighting and deep sounds of crashing thunder.

BUT...
today, was not the day i woulda liked to enjoy down pour all day long...
cause i am on a mission...
a mission to examen every nook and corner of my house, cleaning out and throwing away in preparation of
everything that is just around the corner for us.

which means, i make lots of trips to the curb, to the shed, and to the good will store.
and while personally, i hated to get sopping wet today...
i love that my boys were able to be boys.

cause it's just like brian to get sidetracked in the middle of his "honey doo" list, and take a moment to simply enjoy the wonders God has given us.

he stopped making trips out to the curb, went to the back yard and grabbed a bucket. called levi, and told him to go put on some comfy clothes and meet him out front.
within seconds i heard the squeals of my scared little girls near the front screen at the sight of what daddy and levi were doing.

you see,
with rain comes the music of toads, and where there is music... there are many!
oodles and oodles to be exact.

for the next hour levi and mr. emrich would have been found crawling in water puddles up to their knees in search of swimming toads. sopping wet, with rain pouring down on them.
when it was all said and done, they had caught 37 toads... sometimes i would look out and see levi holding up to four at a time.

and i am pretty sure they had the time of their life, as only boys could...
in this particular situation.

a memory i am sure levi will carry with him well into his adulthood. :)
