times a ticking

yikes...

i've been wanting to sit down and write for a couple days now but haven't found the time to do so.
now i feel as though i am way behind, and there is so much to tell that i'm hoping i don't forget any details.

this has been a busy "stay at home mom" type of week.
alyson and i decided to attempt a simple dress pattern and i'm quite happy to say two days later we succeeded! although, i would have definitely got my moneys worth out of a seam ripper (to which i own but couldn't find in the time of need).

i'm really happy with this dress and the best part is it's reversible!
and actually, it's even easier to make then a pillow case dress if you can believe it.

now, onto yesterdays ordeal.

two nights ago alivia woke up in the middle of the night saying she had to go pee. which isn't out of the ordinary cause that child pees a million times a day.
but when brian got up to take her (only daddy will do in the night) she complained that it hurt. i really didn't think anything of it at first but as the night wore on and she woke up 15 or so more times saying she had to pee followed by crying, i got worried. i immediately thought bladder infection and scheduled an appoint with dr. southerland first thing in the morning.

my first time collecting a urine sample from an almost three year old could be a story in itself. pee on my, pee on her, pee on the floor, on the seat, and somehow there was still enough to collect in the tiny sterile cup they gave me. but that isn't the story i am wanting to share, because surprisingly to me it came back perfectly normal. which got both the dr. and myself thinking....

now, rewind back to alivias infanthood....
back to when the "great and wonderful" dr. featherman was her pediatrician.
back to a time (well numerous time really) when i would take her in and get asked the question "how are her stools?" to which i would always reply the honest truth..."they are hard balls". which would lead us to the same conversation every time. i was told that as long as she was going everyday and wasn't in pain then it was fine. i get so much more upset now, when i think about the time when she pooped at the office and i showed them it because it was always of concern to me. and once again i was told as long as she is going every day and not in pain that is just how hers is.

so what did i do...
i trusted the wise words of my pediatrician.

until wednesday that is.
when dr. southerland asked me if she could be constipated. i quickly explained to her how it is always hard balls but she goes everyday.
her jaw about hit the floor when i told her how featherman always said that was normal. quickly she got her up on her table and felt around my poor alivias pot belly tummy. we were then sent over to an ultrasound....

by the time we got there, i'm sure sure i was bright red with anger.

the good news is dr. southerland is able to fix the problem with a simple medication. it's been a little over 24 hours since she first started it, and i am still waiting for an explosion. poor, poor alivia... bad, bad dr. featherman.

and finally onto this evening...

i spent all day running around cleaning the house from top to bottom. i didn't want to leave at all incase if alivia... well, had to go.
but come this evening, when she still was showing no signs i decided to make a trip up to the fabric store.
alyson joined,
and i tried to use ice cream after as my reward for good behavior.
which sadly, didn't work and they lost their chance (i was soo looking forward to my peanut butter chocolate too).
anyway, levi made me laugh after he got in the car and i explained that although lexi and chirstopher may be going to go get ice cream he had lost his privilege because he was too loud in the store....

he quickly responded with...
"let's got to another store, i will be quiet there".

my sweet smile for the day....

but it still didn't work!
